M1 mac plus user here, no download link. What's more, when I try using a link I got from a friend, the app just says "Coming Soon. You do not have access to the desktop app yet." But it's helpful to know the multimodal features aren't available in this client anyway - so it's pretty much pointless and we can stop jonesing. Come on, OpenAI, stop teasing and roll her out.

but with a "1 million token" context window it can't in 1 shot find a snippet of text in only 100k tokens... why should we be excited about 2 million tokens when 1 million isnt even working properly...

Satya Nadella could rightly being upset on how OpenAI is rewarding Microsoft in injecting13 billion USD and a forthcoming 100 billion "Stargate" datacenter for the company. Releasing a Mac app instead of a Windows one? Sam, don't make me break my foot off in your ass and come up ASAP with the Windows version!

I expect that the new 'voice' feature will be announced at Apple's WWDC and released the day after by OpenAI. The fact that the app requires Apple Silicon points in this direction.

But without access to your data (without screenshot or data upload), it's not more useful than the web version... And if it gets these features, how do you expect to uphold any data protection for sensitive data on your hard drive or your screen?

I got access mid last week but my MacBook is 10 years old with MacOS 11 😭😭😭

They won't have for windows because will be against their bissines with windows who maybe will try to make their own one for windows. 😢

App has some huge flaws, for programming folks its better to use Web for now. The issue is with amount of messages within conversation. As you know code can get pretty lengthy, so once you conversate with it for like an hour or two app will just start to lag like shit. And you cant do anything, you cant stop it, close it, nothing. Once generation in app was on 5th line of code, and lagging like crazy waiting for results, i was just so irritated i went to web version, and in Web version generation was complete, so that is clearly app issue.

Matt, you're simply doing too good of a job. Take 6 months off. Relax. Unwind on a pink sandy beach in Bermuda. Enjoy some rum swizzles with your toes in the water. Play a round of golf, or two, at Port Royal and Mid Ocean. TAKE IT EASY. By the time you come back, most of us here will just be starting to catch up on ALL your videos posted to date. They should offer up a <10B parameter model to switch to if you ask something offline. Like llama3 and ollama. The 7B model works great even on an M1.

I went to GPT and it asked if I want to use 4o. I agreed and then asked it to generate an image but it only responded with the standard text based answers - what am I missing?

Can the world purchase… nice, kind, compassionate, non-violent, happy, social, trusting, co-operative and creative people instead? I'm on a 96GB M2 Max MacBook Pro and have logged into ChatGPT to download the app, but I cannot, even upon following the instructions given to me by ChatGPT 4o (web), itself. Then I tried to log into ChatGPT using my Apple ID and NOTHING. I'm quite irritated with this. And here I was so happy to try it before I subscribed. Pissed me the heck off.

I think being able to watch your desktop and watch you explain what you want to do is where this will really take off.

The 'bad news' is gross. I genuinely think less engineers who aren't using linux, like they can't be very good. I'm guessing it's a political move though.
